چکیده

Li & Xing (in Li et al., 2011) established the leafhopper genus Bambusananus with the type species Bambusananus furcatus Li & Xing, 2011 from China. At the same time, three new combinations: Bambusananus binotatus (Li & Dai, 2003), Bambusananus bipunctatus (Li, 1999) and Bambusananus maculipennis (Li & Wang, 1993) were proposed (all species previously placed in the genus Sorhoanus). Subsequently, Yang & Chen (2012) reviewed the genus and described a new species, Bambusananus lii Yang & Chen, 2012. Presently, Bambusananus contains five species. McKamey & Hicks (2007) proposed the replacement name Sorhoanus lii for Sorhoanus binotatus Li & Dai, 2003, a junior primary homonym of Sorhoanus binotatus Kuoh, 1985. Li & Xing (2011) were not aware of McKamey & Hicks’ (2007) paper when they transferred Sorhoanus binotatus Li & Dai, 2003 to Bambusananus as a new combination, and failed to recognize the homonym. According to Article 60 of the ICZN, because it was replaced before being transferred to Bambusananus, the junior homonym, Sorhoanus binotatus Li & Dai, 2003, is permanently invalid and Sorhoanus lii McKamey & Hicks, 2007 is the valid species name. Here, we follow Li & Xing (2011) in transferring this species to Bambusananus as a new combination, Bambusananus lii (McKamey & Hicks, 2007). Unfortunately, Yang & Chen (2012) created a new secondary homonym when they described Bambusananus lii Yang & Chen, 2012 as a new species because this name was preoccupied by Bambusananus lii (McKamey & Hicks, 2007), Thus, according to Article 60 and 57.3.2 of the ICZN, we propose a new replacement name Bambusananus yangae nom. nov. for Bambusananus lii Yang & Chen, 2012.
